These beautiful operetta songs, as recording by Richard Tucker in about 1966, show his flair for this kind of music. I have never heard such melting tone combined with soaring high notes as Tucker displays here.

From a 1967 performance of Forza del Destino, Richard Tucker is his usual thrilling self as Don Alvaro. In some ways, I think this in-house tape gives a good idea of how his top voice just opened up in the theater. A broadcast cannot really show this.

The question here is who is his Leonora? I will be very impressed by anyone who guesses her. Here is Act 1, scene 1 from the entrance of Alvaro.
